Day 1: Portland!

Day one is complete!  I wanted to upload a video blog immediately but I can’t because I’m on the road, (lack of Internet, very thankful for my 3G phone) so here’s a written blog about my first day on tour!

Just finished my CD release show and I’m on the road to the Bay Area, hoping to make it to my show in the morning. This is certainly the most important day in my career thus far, because I have finally accomplished what I set out to do since beginning my singing career at 14: release my album in the USA!  Today was a day of celebration.  Friends that I haven’t seen for years came out to support me at my show.  My family was there, including my extended family, singing along to my songs.  It was so sweet.  What a great homecoming.

I did a couple of shows earlier in the day at high schools and gained some new fans.  I’m doing all I can to make my acoustic shows feel like my full band shows.  I can’t wait to come back home and play a live show with the rest of the band.  Hopefully soon!

My heart is filled with love from all the support I received today, and also a touch of despair from leaving Portland.  The hardest part of touring is missing people and places.  That’s the battle we face.  All these other trials and tribulations are nothing.  Every day I realize how blessed I am to play music for a living. On the road, my fans become my friends and family.  I love you all so much.  I hope you enjoy my US debut album!!

Bennie K in LA!

Bennie K came and visited LA recently, and we had so much fun! It was areal treat having them in my town, since I only ever see them when I’m in Tokyo! We met up for lunch then went and looked at some stores in Hollywood. After that we visited the Guitar Center on Sunset Blvd. where they have the famous Rockwalk. It was impressive seeing all the famous hand prints out in front.

We went out to dinner at this AMAZING Japanese restaurant that luckily is only about 15 minutes away from where I live, so I’ll have to go back! It’s a family owned restaurant and Bennie K knows the owners so it was really fun.

I ate ume onigiri, ume udon, eggplant, tofu… I’m sure I ate even more than that.

It was hard to say goodbye, but I’ll be coming back to Japan in April…SEE YOU SOON!
